As Marcus Mumford professes on their exclusive documentary “It’s just fun to go to Australia and play some gigs because they’ve played us on the radio and stuff but it’s nice to actually go there and play gigs. We’ve never experienced that reception before.” And that is what they do best. With a place in their hearts for our wide brown land, one of the documentary features their amazing set at Splendour In The Grass where they played to their biggest audience yet.
“We try quite hard to be more of an inclusive band than a band that’s just there to be seen. We’re very dependent on the crowd and I think we make that quiet clear to them… when they give us something, we give more back. I guess in a world when those personal engagements are becoming less and less common, so we enjoy that [connectedness]. It’s part of what we do.” And if you missed it you can now be a part of it by watching it in the comfort of your own home.
The DVD features three documentaries recorded across the world over the hectic journey the band has undergone in the last 18 months. Starting in the Summer of 2009, following the band from the Cambridge Folk Festival to Australia and back to Glastonbury.
