THE JOHN STEEL SINGERS
RELEASE TWO TRACKS FOR FREE DOWNLOAD
The John Steel Singer’s latest album, the softly synth-layered and sun-kissed-sounding “Everything’s a Thread” has been chasing the sun across the globe since it’s release last summer in their native Australia - most recently rousing audiences in the UK with their brand of psychedelic-pop-meets-surf-rock that has a unique sound all it’s own.
Since its release in the UK, the album has received 4/5 Stars from The Guardian, Mojo Magazine, The Times, Shindig and Metro, as well as getting a full stream on the NME site. BBC 6Music named the album the ‘Record of the Day’, a day after it was released on the band’s new UK label Full Time Hobby. All that together with signing to the roster of London’s indomitable Coda Agency with agent Paul Buck, they’ve cemented their highly deserved place as one of Australia’s finest exports.
To celebrate the success of their home-grown album, the band have decided to unveil two tracks from the UK release’s bonus live CD – recorded in their studio The Plutonium in Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. ‘State of Unrest (Feat. Everett True)' and ‘Strawberry Wine (Feat. Robert Forster)’ were both produced by Miro Mackie. While Robert, the lead singer of The Go-Betweens, produced their very first record 'Tangalooma' - he breathes new life into the song, giving it his distinctive touch. The track with Everett True, the renowned British rock n’ roll journalist, would need a massive language warning if it were ever played on radio. Everett True, otherwise known as The Legend, performs spoken word over the top of 'State of Unrest' - and the result gives a whole new definition of the word 'provocative'. Shortly after their scheduled performances on some of the countries biggest stages over the New Year at Falls Festival, the band are set to take the stage in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this Summer.
