Spanning stage, screen and studio, Sarah Blasko has carved her place as one of Australia’s boldest and bravest artists; now venturing forth into the cyber realm to team up with eBay in support of charity organisation Bowel Cancer Australia.
Having curated her own store on eBay, fans are invited to snap up a Blasko bargain, but charity is the real winner with all profits going directly to Bowel Cancer Australia - a cause so indelibly close to Sarah’s heart.
Up for grabs is a double pass to the sold out Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay to watch Sarah perform from side of stage, as well as a selection of clothing, homewares, vinyl, books and bric-a-brac personally chosen or donated by Sarah.
"I lost my mother Ellie to bowel cancer 13 years ago and it's taken me a while to find my voice to speak about it,” Sarah says. “Recently, a close friend also lost her mother to the same disease and it was incredibly sad. I feel that there's not as much awareness out there about this particular form of cancer, so obviously the more information out there the better."
Bowel Cancer Australia chief executive Julien Wiggins says about 14,000 Australians are diagnosed with bowel cancer each year and despite being a very common disease, community awareness is relatively low.
“It’s our second biggest cancer killer – responsible for more deaths than either breast or prostate cancer,” he says. “We really appreciate the support of people like Sarah who have lost a loved one to bowel cancer and want to help other people avoid that same experience.”
You can view Sarah’s curated eBay store HERE. The store is open from midday Friday, July 12 to midday Monday, July 15, so best get in quick!
